The new year is here, and with it comes the annual new year new me. Whether you want to lose weight, build muscle, or improve your overall fitness, here are 5 simple tips to help you stay on track and be that new you for 2025 and beyond.
1. Set SMART Goals
SMART stands for Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound.
• Specific: It Disney have to be a number on a scale, it can be fitting into an old pair of pants that you saved in the back of your closet.
• Measurable: Track your progress with photos, measurements, or consistency.
• Achievable: Make sure your goal is realistic. Don’t set yourself up for failure by being unrealistic.
• Relevant: Your goal should align with your priorities and lifestyle. Make it something that matters to YOU!
• Time-bound: Give yourself a deadline to create urgency. This cuts the procrastination out of the equation.
2. Focus on Consistency, Not Perfection
Progress is not linear. The key is to stay consistent over time.
• Prioritize small, realistic habits like working out 3-4 times a week or meal prepping.
• If you miss a workout or have an off day with food, don’t beat yourself up, just focus on getting back on track and not trying to over correct.
3. Write Down Your “Why”
Reminding yourself of why you’re pouring all this hard work and effort into yourself will help during the days where you just don’t want to.
• Are you improving your health because you want to start a family?
• Building strength to feel more confident doing everyday tasks?
• Write your “why” down somewhere you’ll see it daily like on your Lock Screen.
4. Mix Up Your Routine
Boredom and plateaus are goal killers. Keep things fresh by adding variety THAT MAKES SENSE AND HAS PURPOSE GET TO YOUR GOAL!
• Try new workout styles like yoga, HIIT, or strength training.
• Set micro goals, like learning to do a pull-up or getting your mile time down 10 seconds.
• Switch up your meal options to keep healthy eating exciting. Even seasoning each piece of meat differently when prepping.
5. Seek Support
Accountability and encouragement can make all the difference.
• Find a friend to workout with or join a fitness class.
